Synopsis
The demon is loose in the building, and she's coming for you
Struggling, single mother Ellie is glad to have her sister Beth visit her in Los Angeles. Things quickly go awry when the children discover a cursed text in the apartment building and unleash demonic forces that push the family into a nightmare. What to know
Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series is back with the fifth installment
The fifth installment of acclaimed director and producer Sam Raimi (Spiderman), Evil Dead Rise is a supernatural horror film. The movie is written and Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), who was handpicked by Sam Raimi. Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell all serve as executive producers, with Stephen McKeon delivering the score. Cinematographer Dave Garbett is a previous collaborator to the Evil Dead franchise, and continuity in the production team continues with Bryan Shaw who served as editor for Evil Dead.
Australian actresses Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock) star as Ellie, and her sister Beth respectively. Ali Asghar Shah, Gabrielle Echols, Neil Fisher, Mia Challis and Aussie actor Morgan Davies (Storm Boy) round up the cast.
The production used over 6,500 litres of fake blood during filming.
